- Partners and/or immediate family members of the Judge, may not enter cavies to be exhibited under said Judge at any show.
- Cavies purchased from a Judge shall be ineligible for exhibition under that Judge until a period of six months has elapsed from the date of change of ownership
- All cavies entered in the standard breed classes will be judged to the ANCC approved standards.
- Any Judge who contracts for a show and cannot fulfill his/her duty for a legitimate reason should contact and so notify the show committee where he/she was hired. The responsibility to seek a substitute judge lies with the show committee.
- Every cavy exhibited at the show must at the time of the show be owned by the exhibitor in whose name it is entered.
- Cavies must be entered in the cavies given name as stated on the pedigree by the breeder, using the breeders stud prefix first and the cavy’s given name. In the instance where no pedigree has been given with the cavy, or the breeder is unknown, or does not have a registered stud prefix no stud prefix is to be used.
- Adhesive Show tags stating the show number must be either attached to the left ear of the cavy or be placed on the top corner of the show board. (only ONE tag to be placed on a board) Any other form of identification of any cavy by the exhibitor could result in disqualification of that animal.
- Show tags (supplied after payment of entry) must be in place when the cavy is benched
- All cavies must be shown on a mat or show board, size not to exceed - for short hairs: (30cm x 30cm) – for longhairs (60cm x60cm). Height not to exceed 5cm.
- NO talking is permitted by exhibitors at the judging bench whilst the judging is in progress. Any communications must be left until after the judging is concluded, with the exception of those comments relating to the possible risk of health of other exhibits by the presence of an exhibit.
- The show steward shall ensure that no attempt be made by any person in any way to influence the Judge on his/her awards
- The steward shall be responsible for marking all the necessary awards on the judging slip, after completing each class, initial the slip and must be forwarded to the official entries secretary promptly. No alteration may be made to the awards as shown on the slip for any class after it has been initialed by the Judge, unless the Judge and the Show Secretary agree that a genuine mistake has been made in the awards.
- The Judge can disqualify any cavy which they think is unfit for showing
- The Judge or Show Steward may order any person or cavy from the competition for bad conduct of one or both.
- The Judge’s decision is final – no discussion will be entered into
- All owners or representatives are responsible for the punctual benching of cavies. A cavy must be brought to the bench when the show number has been called. Entries that are not on the judging bench on the third call will be disqualified.
- All cavies entered in the Standard classes will be benched by the owner or his representative.
- All cavies entered in the junior exhibitor classes, must be benched by the junior owner/exhibitor only.
- All cavies entered in the novice exhibitor class, must be benched by the novice exhibitor only.
- The following age groups will apply to the age of the cavy on the day of the show.
Baby) 3 months – under 6 months
Junior) 6 months – under 9 months
Adult Boar) over 9 months
Adult Sow) over 9 months - Champion cavies can be entered in the appropriate breed class, as well as any other eligible class.
